German Shepherd

The German Shepherd originated in Germany and were bred for guarding and herding sheep. They are recognized as part of the herding group in the AKC. They are often used for police and military roles because of their strength, intelligence, and their abilities in obedience training. German Shepherds are one of the most popular breeds because of their protective and loyal nature. They are ranked third in intelligence. The most common color of the German Shepherd is tan with a black saddle. They often have 5-10 pups in a litter and their lifespan is 9-13 years.
